2011/09/13

On September 13, 2011, Li Keqiang, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Vice Premier of the State Council, met with Mongolian First Deputy Prime Minister Noroviin Altanhuyag, who is also chairman of the Mongolian Democratic Party (MDP), at the Great Hall of the People.

"China and Mongolia share broad common interests. A neighborly relationship is in the fundamental interests of both sides," Li said. The establishment of bilateral strategic partnership between China and Mongolia in June is an important milestone in the development of bilateral relations and marks the relations have entered a new stage of development. Li raised a four-point proposal for further enriching the connotations of bilateral ties. First, both sides should maintain high-level contacts, increase political communication and enhance strategic mutual trust. Second, both sides should seize historical opportunities, tap complementary advantages and strengthen substantial cooperation in all areas. Third, both sides should increase cooperation between the two countries' legislative bodies, political parties, trade unions and women and youth organizations as well as on environmental protection and humanities. Fourth, both sides should strengthen multilateral coordination to safeguard common interest.

Li said China attaches great importance to party-to-party exchanges between the two countries. China is ready to enhance high-level party-to-party exchanges with Mongolian political parties including the Mongolian Democratic Party (MDP), expand forms of contacts, enrich the connotations of exchanges and exchange experience in managing state affairs to serve their respective national development and benefit both peoples.

Altanhuyag said that frequent high-level visits and increased mutual political trust between China and Mongolia have laid a solid foundation for expanding bilateral communication and cooperation in all areas. The MDP hopes to learn from China's experience in reform and opening up, step up efforts in domestic construction, advance the mutually beneficial cooperation projects and play a positive role in the all-round development of the Mongolia-China strategic partnership, Altanhuyag said.

Minister Wang Jiarui and Assistant Minister Yang Yanyi of the International Department of the Central Committee of CPC attended the meeting.
