Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao Congratulates Rutte on Taking Office as Dutch Prime Minister

Immediately after Dutch new Prime Minister Mark Rutte has been sworn in on 14 October, Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao extended his warm congratulations and best wishes to him in a message of congratulation. Premier Wen noted that he would like to work with Prime Minister Rutte to further strengthen Sino-Dutch bilateral cooperation in a practical manner, and bring friendly cooperative relationship to a higher level for the purpose of better benefiting peoples of the two countries. On the same day, Chinese Minister of Foreign Affairs Yang Jiechi sent a message of congratulation to Dutch new Foreign Minister Uri Rosenthal.

On 21 October, Mr. Zhang Jun, Chinese Ambassador to the Netherlands, met with Mr. Karel Hartogh, Director of Asia and Oceania Affairs of the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and handed over the above-mentioned messages of congratulation. The two sides also exchanged views on bilateral relations. Mr. Hartogh expressed appreciation for China's messages of congratulation. He said that Dutch new Cabinet attaches great importance to Sino-Dutch relations and will maintain consistency and stability in policy towards China. The Dutch side is willing to work together with China to deepen practical cooperation between the two countries so as to achieve mutual benefits and win-win outcome.
