On the afternoon of March 28, 2024, Peng Liyuan, wife of President Xi Jinping, met with representatives of students and teachers from the Chinese Choir at the Burg of Germany, who were on a visit to China, at Beijing No.35 High School.

In March, flowers are blooming in the warm spring and Beijing is full of vitality. Peng Liyuan arrived at the school and was warmly welcomed by students and teachers.

Peng Liyuan extended a warm welcome to the students and teachers of the Chinese Choir at the Burg for visiting China again, and congratulated the choir on its fruitful achievements over the past decade in conveying friendship through songs. Peng Liyuan said that through the joint efforts, the choir has built a bridge of cultural exchanges between China and Germany and become a shining symbol of China-Germany friendship. She hoped that the students could use music as the golden key to unlock a new world of the Chinese language, feel the charm of Chinese culture in the beautiful melody, and become a new generation of envoys of China-Germany friendship.

Olaf Millmann, president of the choir association, thanked Peng Liyuan for her care and support for the choir, and said that more and more German teenagers have come to know and love China by "learning Chinese through singing", and they will continue to actively build a bridge of communication through music and Chinese, enhancing mutual understanding and friendship between German and Chinese teenagers.

The student representatives of the choir reported to Peng Liyuan in Chinese their learning progress and experiences, and their love for China, and said that they would continue to work hard to learn Chinese well.

Peng Liyuan had a cordial interaction with the teachers and students and praised the students for speaking excellent Chinese. She believed that their visit to China will further deepen their understanding of the country, and encouraged the students to share what they have seen and felt in China with their families and friends after returning home, and write more stories of China-Germany friendship.

The students of the choir presented Peng Liyuan with a commemorative photo album documenting her friendly exchanges with the choir in the past decade. Peng Liyuan presented them with a Chinese calligraphy artwork, and encouraged them to continuously make progress and reach a new height in their journey of learning Chinese.

The students sang both Chinese and German songs together and received warm applause.

The Chinese Choir at the Burg is a non-profit public welfare organization that carries out "learning Chinese through singing" activities for German teenagers. With the aim of promoting non-governmental exchanges between China and Germany, it is committed to enhancing the friendship between the two countries in the fields of language and culture.
